Filtration Solutions in the Process of Alumina Production from Bauxite (Bayer Process)

Filtration and separation are critical in refining Alumina from Bauxite. The refining of four tons of Bauxite yields about two tons of Alumina. Alumina is a key input in Aluminum’s production process. ~Two tons of Alumina is needed to produce ~1 ton of primary Aluminum.

Key steps in the Bayer Circuit for the refining of Alumina from Bauxite include Clarification, Oxalate Removal, Liquor Polishing (Security Filtration), Red Mud Management & Disposal, Precipitation (Seed Filtration), Hydrate Filtration & Washing, and Calcination.
