Vacuum Belt Filter Troubleshooting Tips

Tip #1 – Rubber Drainage Belt Curbing is Stretched-out and Cracking

If your rubber drainage belt curbing is stretched out, this allows the slurry to slide off the sides of the belt. Our corrugated curb expands around pulleys, preventing wear damage. We can hot vulcanize onsite to maximize its reliability.

Tip #2 – Cloth Belt is Blinding in Strips

If your shower bars are clogged, your cloth belt can blind prematurely where it is not being washed. Micronics offers self-cleaning shower bars, which will extend the life of your cloth belt and reduce downtime.

Tip #3 – You Are Experiencing Vacuum Loss

If you are experiencing vacuum loss, this is often caused by misaligned slide strips. If the vacuum pan was recently opened for cleaning, the slide strips may not be properly aligned with the drainage holes on the rubber belt. Reassemble with a proper seal.

Tip #4 – Drive Pulley Tracks Poorly

If the drive pulley tracks poorly, grooves on the drive pulley may have worn away. These grooves are necessary to pull the rubber drainage belt. Without them, your rubber belt and main drive will wear prematurely. Fortunately, Micronics has the expertise to replace your drive pulley or recover your worn pulley for a fraction of the cost. Tip #5 – The Cake is Forming Non-uniformly. It Is Thicker On One Side of the Unit.

If you are in a new facility, the foundations could have settled within the first few years, causing a bit of a slope. Even a slight change in slope can make a dramatic difference in cake thickness across the width of the belt. Proper alignment will also help your vacuum pan stay sealed.

Tip #6 – You Are Experiencing Wrinkles or Bunching in the Cloth Belt

If your current Belt Tracking System is a spring/ rope configuration or a steel two-wheel edge tracker, Micronics’ UHMW polyethylene Edge Trackers are an easy way to smooth out your belt. We can even reconfigure your cloth belt so that it has pip edging for the tracker to grip.
