International Reducing C02 Emissions Day 2025

International Reducing CO2 Emissions Day is recognized January 28, 2025. This day is a global awareness campaign to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change. Micronics is well-known for bespoke filtration solutions for air pollution control including its PrimaFlow™ and StarBag™ filter bags, shown here in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.

One of our key pillars of focus is on supporting reduction in particulate matter (PM) emissions into the air from a variety of industries including cement, asphalt, mining/mineral processing, aluminum, steel, and coal-fired power generation. In addition to its work with reducing PM emissions in industries around the globe, Micronics is also supporting reduced carbon dioxide emissions and addressing climate change through its industrial filtration solutions.

Micronics Is Helping Customers with Reduced Energy Consumption, Supporting Reduced Carbon Dioxide Emissions

One of the key ways in which we help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions is through helping our customers reduce energy consumption. The less energy you use in industrial processes, the less fossil fuels need to be burned to generate that energy, resulting in lower greenhouse gas output into the atmosphere. Here are a few ways Micronics help customers reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions:

Optimal Filter Media Selection

Helping clients in selecting the optimal filter media to provide better operational results. For instance, lowering Differential Pressure (dP) in a customer’s baghouse will help lower energy consumption and energy costs. ePTFE membrane, micro-denier fibers, and nanofibers are proven upgrades to address dP issues and obtain reduced energy costs. 

Next-Generation Solutions for Today and Tomorrow

Implementing innovative products such as our next-generation extended surface solutions – PrimaFlow™ and StarBag™ filter bags – can tangibly improve customer operations, enhance filtration performance, and lower energy costs, as compared to the use of traditional round filter bags. Across multiple reference installations, we are demonstrating:

  • lower baghouse Differential Pressure (dP), driving lower energy consumption and 
  • lower cleaning frequency, similarly resulting in lower energy consumption. 

Lower energy consumption correlates with reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

 

Material Selection to Improve Life, Improve Process Efficiencies, and Decrease Hauling Costs

Helping  liquid filtration clients with innovative filter media specifically designed to increase cloth lifetime, such as our MINE-XLL heavyweight nylon cloth. Use of MINE-XLL not only increases the number of cycles before need for cloth changeout but it also lowers cake moistures, resulting in lower hauling/transportation costs. The transportation sector is one of the greatest contributors to carbon emissions. 

Improved Sizing of Filtration Equipment

When the size of your filtration system – liquid filtration or dry filtration – can be optimized, it leads to greater filtration efficiency, less downtime, lower energy consumption, improved product quality, and a lower total cost of ownership. There are many operational benefits of optimizing both the filtration equipment as well as the filter media.  

Training and Customer Education

Micronics works closely with customers – both onsite, in the field, and through training seminars, providing guidance on how to optimize their filtration systems for maximum energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction.
