Micronics, Inc. Announces Contracts of US $33.5 Million for Q1 2011
Filter press manufacturer sees explosive growth in 2010 and 2011 in mining sector.

Portsmouth, NH, April 18, 2011 – Micronics, Inc., manufacturer of filter presses, filter plates, and filter cloths used for mine tailings, gold/ silver, and mineral concentrate, has accepted contracts in excess of US$33.5 million in the first quarter of 2011. The orders cover Ishigaki’s fully automatic LASTA MC filter press for tailings applications and Micronics semi-automatic filters used for tailings and in the Merrill Crowe process.

Micronics CEO, Barry Hibble stated, "The Company has seen explosive growth in 2010 and the first quarter of 2011, particularly in the mining sector, but there has been an indication that all industry sectors we service are rapidly investing in expansion or new installations." The company’s filter cloth operation is equally busy as large machines create new demands to develop special designs to extend the operating life and performance of the company’s filter cloth. Recent fabric developments have resulted in operating life exceeding seven times the replaced filter cloth, with additional performance improvements that benefit the filter operations.

Micronics supplies filter plates and filter cloth for its own machines as well as other manufacturers; the synergy of this associated product range gives Micronics the knowledge and support capabilities specifically required for pressure filtration applications. "This is an unusual combination of product knowledge and application experience. Each affects the other, which creates strong integrated solutions and results in an improvement in the overall filtering process for our customers."

Micronics, Inc. Announces US$14 Million Contract for Extracting & Dewatering Tailings at North American Gold Mine
With new LASTA MC Filter Presses, gold mine will recover 99% of residual gold in waste filter cakes with plans to increase processing to 30,000 tons per day.

Portsmouth, NH, February 23, 2011 – Micronics, Inc., manufacturers of filter presses, filter plates, and filter cloths used for gold, silver, and mineral processing in the mining industry, has been awarded a US$14 million contract to provide LASTA MC Filter Presses to a north American mining partner. With the LASTA MC presses, the mine will begin processing 10,000 TPD (tons per day) with short term plans to increase to 30,000 TPD – a 200% increase in production.

The LASTA MC filtration process includes the removal of cyanide and a 99% residual gold recovery from the filter cake before tailings disposal. This new dewatering process is expected to yield greater returns for the mine; expansion will be completed in 2011. Micronics has already supplied a US$1.5 million contract to the mine for Merrill Crowe process using semi-automatic filters and is negotiating a long-term technical relationship.

"Ishigaki has a strong reputation in the mining market with their LASTA MC filter presses," said Barry Hibble, President of Micronics, Inc. "With the addition of the LASTA presses, the mine will be able to greatly add to its processing. To process 10,000 TPD is good; to increase that to 30,000 tons is extraordinary. By partnering with Ishigaki, we’ve been able to expand our product line and related services further into the global mining market and into other industries as well, including chemicals and waste remediation."

Ishigaki Company Ltd., Tokyo Japan partnered with Micronics in 2009 to supply their range of filter presses, which includes the Ishigaki LASTA MC, the largest capacity filter press in the world. A completely automated filter press, the LASTA MC offers shorter cycle times and a high tonnage processing capability – while reducing costs. LASTA MC presses also generate low cake moistures that reduce or eliminate drying requirements. With its innovative features, the LASTA MC has been incorporated into the existing Micronics dewatering product range, which includes sidebar, overhead and vacuum assisted filter presses.

With more than 100 global installations, the LASTA MC filter press provides reliable and robust high performance slurry dewatering primarily to the mining and process industries.

Micronics Engineered Filtration receives another order from Gammon Gold for the Ishigaki LASTA MC fully automatic filter press.

The highly successful LASTA MC (mining concentrate) filter press distributed by Micronics is successfully dewatering mine tailings and mineral concentrates throughout the world. A proven “work horse” in extreme environments operating 24/7, there are over 100 machines in service worldwide many with over 20 years of trouble free operation.

The recent repeat order for Gammon Gold, Mexico increases their existing capacity by 34% and will be installed in mid 2010.

Ishigaki’s Sakaide, Japan factory designs and produces the LASTA MC; a technology which plays such an important role for the reliable economic dewatering of mineral concentrates and for sustainable practices handling mine tailings. Ishigaki filter presses are known for their ability to filter short cycles and discharge filter cakes faster than conventional machines. Ishigaki Company Ltd., is the only present manufacturer of fully automatic filters capable of running operator free on mining and industrial process sites utilizing two novel methods of handling the filter cake discharge – the MC for mining applications and SD model for process applications.

Three large, heavy duty models are offered; 1.5 x 2m, 2.1 x 2.1 and 2.1 x 2.9m plate size providing optimum sizing opportunities that will dewater tailings to 14% moisture and mineral concentrates to optimal 8% cake moisture.
