Design/Project Engineer – Winthrop, Maine

Job Description

The Design/Project Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the design of wet vacuum filtration parts and equipment for liquid-solid separation, from conceptual design, performing any necessary calculations or analyses, generating 3D models, and detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation, such as O&M manuals. The Micronics Engineered Filtration Group specializes in making custom-designed liquid-solid separation machines (e.g., horizontal belt vacuum filters, rotary disc vacuum filters, rotary drum vacuum filters, etc.) and peripheral systems to meet our customer’s individual needs.

In addition, this position involves providing on-site support to our field service team and customers, applications engineering support, R&D, and prototyping.

The position reports to Micronics’ Senior Director of Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Promote the Company’s core values and associated culture, safety, leadership, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Design parts & equipment to meet customer specifications and requirements.
  • Design custom components & systems to integrate with existing customer facilities and equipment.
  • Size and specify components for systems such as drive, vacuum, auxiliary, etc.
  • Inspect, assess & document customer parts & equipment in the field.
  • Reverse-engineer parts or equipment from samples or in the field.
  • Generate 3D models, drawing packages, bills of materials, and O&M Manuals.
  • Perform necessary engineering calculations to validate or improve designs.
  • Work with/ vendors on manufacturing of designed parts.
  • Provide technical support on-site for installation and startup of large projects.
  • Participate in new product development.
  • Participate in quality control.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with large assembly management (500+ parts)
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor & Vault
  • 5+ years’ experience working in filtration equipment machine design
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid passport

Purchaser/Buyer – Chattanooga, TN

Job Description

The Purchaser/Buyer is responsible for the purchasing of raw materials, equipment, and/or services to support the manufacturing organization. This position will actively manage the supplier base, identify and resolve resource constraints, and will take appropriate actions in order to achieve established schedules and customer commitments.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Negotiates, processes, and monitors standard and blanket purchase orders to achieve negotiated savings requirements, minimize unfavorable purchase price variance (PPV), assure on-time delivery, and achieve effective inventory management.
  • Communicates daily, weekly, and forecasted requirements with suppliers. Obtains supplier delivery commitments and reconciles open order requirements. Expedites delinquent orders and notifies the appropriate department of any delays.
  • Maintains the Supplier and Item Master record in the ERP system (pricing, lead times and MOQ).
  • Interfaces with other departments such as Production, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Accounting, and Quality in an effort to meet the customer-requested dates identified by the product schedule.
  • Proactively manages finished goods and raw material inventory levels for assigned areas at or below the given target.
  • Conducts all purchasing activities in compliance with company policy and objectives and meets company requirements for cost, quality, inventory objectives, and reliability.
  • Participates in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects for the assigned areas of responsibility, including negotiating with suppliers to reduce overall purchase/ inventory/shipping costs, including but not limited to purchase price, delivery schedules, optimized transportation schedules, minimum/multiple order quantities, etc.
  • Proficient in working in an MRP environment; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Supports all corporate purchasing initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience
  • Requires ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Purchasing methods, strategies, and concepts
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills
  • Analytical skills, make vs buy, PPV project experience

Estimator – Winthrop, ME

Job Description

The Estimator works with both the Parts & Equipment Estimating Team as well as the Capital Projects Team. He/she is responsible for generating detailed cost estimates independently or as part of a capital equipment estimating team in accordance with four (4) team goals: Accurate, Timely, Efficient, and Effective. He/she is required to review requests and generate estimates for the scope of supply in accordance with the Micronics Quality System SOPs for estimating.

This role will lead estimating efforts, through our ERP, to ensure optimum costing and coordination of projects and programs to meet customer expectations and manufacturing requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Interface with the Sales Team to obtain appropriate customer files and documents associated with requests.
  • Ensure that products are quoted accurately to support development and production implementation.
  • Process production, engineering, purchasing and quality inputs to quotes.
  • Ensure data is complete, accurate, and meets department requirements.
  • Report on status of quotes, including turnaround times.
  • Maintain SPL, and capital equipment budget generation.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Create bill of material (BOM) for products. To include creating an item number of each component, quantity required in the manufacture of a product and the unit of measure of the item.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar field preferred.
  • 3 years experience in estimating within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP systems, preferably QAD.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
